What is a portable plasma pipe cutter?
A portable plasma pipe cutter, also sold as a portable CNC pipe cutting machine, portable CNC plasma cutting machine for pipe or small pipe cutting machine, is a light CNC plasma pipe cutter that can be taken to the job. It has three axes: the torch travels along the pipe and across it while the chuck turns the pipe. That is enough to cut every common pipe joint with a square edge. At about 300 kg it is light enough to take to the job and runs on a 380 V supply, so contractors cut pipe at the site instead of shipping it to a shop and back.

What it cuts
All cuts are square-edged; the torch stays vertical. Weld bevels are ground afterwards or cut on a 5-axis tube plasma cutting machine.

What is a portable plasma pipe cutting machine?

How thick can it cut?
With plasma, 6 to 40 mm carbon steel, depending on the LGK source fitted (LGK120A to LGK400A). With the optional oxy-fuel cutting system, carbon steel from 6 to 200 mm.
Can it cut bevels?
No. It is a 3-axis machine with a vertical torch, so it cuts square edges. For weld bevels cut together with saddles and branch holes, choose the 5-axis tube plasma cutting machine or the 5-axis plasma and oxy-fuel pipe bevel cutter.
What power does it need?
380 V. If the supply on your site is different, tell us the voltage and frequency and we configure the machine or advise on a transformer.
How is it moved to site?
The machine weighs about 300 kg, light enough to move with a forklift or crane and take to site on a truck. Tell us how you plan to transport it and we advise on packing and set-up.
Which plasma source should I choose?
Size it to your thickest pipe wall. A smaller LGK source keeps the price and running cost down for thin and medium walls; a larger source up to LGK400A is for walls towards 40 mm. Send your thickest wall and we recommend the source.
Portable or stationary pipe cutting machine?
Portable if your pipes are on site, your sizes are up to Ø600 mm and square edges are enough. Stationary if you cut every day in a workshop, need weld bevels, longer pipe, square tube or heavier pipe.
Is it suitable for small fabrication shops?
